Nothing is more satisfying than absentmindedly reaching for a pair of sunglasses to try on and finding out that they were made for you, they’re vintage, and they’re Valentino…but then you remember that you’re a god damn broke grown ass 27 year old woman who’s finding yourself…but! you managed to marry a nice dude who will buy them for you (I know it’s technically ‘our’ money but let’s give the nice man some credit). Plus little green and red Swarovski crystals.

Retro.Specs is a small local venture that finds vintage shades all over RSA and sells them in Jozi and Cape Town. For Joziens they are at Market on Main every Sunday and also stock the following stores:

– Lunar at 44 Stanley in JHB and Loop Street in Cape Town
Optom-Eyez Optometrists, Fourways in JHB
MeMeMe on Long Street in Cape Town

And they’re totally affordable on a normal (working) person’s budget. You can follow Retro.Specs on Facebook or Twitter to keep informed of their new stock or message them if you’re looking for something specific. You also get to pick out a cute handmade case that comes with a little polishing cloth for your fabu new specs.

*Also, I threw in some of my Durban pics since I’m visiting, where they do not sell currently so sorry for the mixed messages.
