Today : Fashion Friday, plus some musings about style and then a blog that you should be reading. New Year’s was celebrated with my two besties -my boo and my sis. This year we went to a couple of parties and had a grand ol’ time. My sister and I decided to dress up (hello it was New Year’s Eve?) and I wore that tan shift with a light pink color sleave-ish things and you can’t see that it has a semi-low cut back. I bought in on our honeymoon in Bali and this is only my second time I could find to wear it. Typical.

The other thing I wanted to write about is style. Shows like Sex and the City have made brands like Choo and Louboutin ubiquitous. Women of all ages (okay, particularly women on reality shows like Real Housewives of ______ and their ilk) think piling on some Loubs and YSL make them the epitome of style and class. Style can not be bought. It means rocking Zara just as fiercely as one would rock Prada. Don’t get me wrong…I do love me a bangin’ dress or bag that costs entirely too much money and has a label, but being a brand-whore does not a style icon make. One must have a sense of that je ne sais quoi and a good idea of what makes you feel good (Beyond Prada. Prada makes us all feel good. Really good. ).
Lastly, I came upon the blog Advanced Style when a friend posted it on Facebook. Um. WHERE HAVE I BEEN? I love the women the blog features. I love the idea for the blog (I wish I had thought of that!). I love that style evolves as you get older, and age doesn’t mean dressing like a frumpy housewife but getting more bold and confident in your style choices. I aspire to be like those women when I am an old lady.
